ive been three times, always to the rudskogen track.
some of the highlights that spring to mind from the trips include watching two escort cosworths side by side 4wd drifting in front of the reyland escort
endless 4wd audis drifting
watching the 2400hp granada light the wheels the full lenght of the kilometer straight
a 600hp fwd civic vtec turbo!
seeing a near standard looking audi 80 beat the norris evo twice on the drag strip, fastest car i have ever seen
getting three laps as passanger in a bmw z4 24hr touring car
getting a passenger ride in the extreme track session in a 740hp all carbon fibre supra on slicks
all that on top of the maddest modified cars everywhere, wild partying all night every night(better than most music festivals) and very friendly women
if you are into cars, you haven't done it all until you have been

my advice would be to avoid norway due to the cost and fly into gothenberg sweeden and travel to rudskogen from there as it is the same distance and that country is much cheaper

tis not far from moi,i live near the border of norway in sweden and to save a hell of a lot of money i,d go this way------------
ryanair fly to oslo (torp)from liverpool/london c.a 1.5 hours drive to oslo (rent a car?)
torp.no address for the airport
then you drive up to oslo but head for horten where there is a ferry that takes you to a place called moss see here

http://www.viamichelin.com/web/Itine...raryFuelType=0
its about Ł15 over with the car and then when you get to moss about 1 hours drive to rudskogen
p.m me nearer the time i (may) pick up 3 of you in my wifes bmw and follow you as i am driving this route next week to go to liverpool for new year
but trust me this is the easiest way and cheapest way to get there i can even probably get you somewhere to stay just over the swedish border
p.m me nearer the time if intrested that includes you porkie

To the guys that have driven there, what the drive like, fuel costs over the different country, guessing it'll be something like 1500+miles round trip? Is it a sensible idea to do in a 20year old ford?
Its something I've all thought would be a great thing to do.

I've done it the opposite way plenty of times. Drove my Escos to Ford Fair in 2008 for example. Ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg is one option cutting down on the miles, but its expensive. Go on Google maps and use the route planner, gives you an idea of distance. If you're driving all the way from England via France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden then into Norway you're most likely looking at closer to 1500 miles one way.

I think, if I was to do it, Id drive the fully length one way and ferry the other.
I think fuel price work out about the same as her for France, Germany and Holland, but what's it like in Denmark, Sweden and Norway? would the best way to work it out be use UK prices? what would be a sensible amount of days to do the drive, with a def over night stay in ADam?

You're right, it hasnt been running for 2-3 years at least.

DFDS Tor Line does has a cargo ship between Immingham and Brevik though, they have some room for passengers. But I'd rather drive than be stuck on some crappy cargo ship...

Fuel prices vary everywhere, if you have to worry about fuel costs you shouldnt be driving that far anyway. Scandinavian countries might have slightly more expensive petrol, never compared to be honest. Wont make much of a difference to the total anyway.
If you're going via Amsterdam then I'd use one day from UK to Holland. Then next from Holland to Norway. The 2nd day will be a long one...
Most sensible is really to fly though, only reason why I drive to UK every year is because Im buying loads of stuff too big to bring back on the plane. Also, no offence, but a RS Turbo really wont be anything big at Gatebil. Meaning you'll get directed to camp area or normal carpark, where it might get broken into or damaged.

Thanks for that . Would really like to take a car with me though and do a driving tour of the country though. There was a great feature in EVO magazine recently about a few journalists who did the same.
