Default A good day at Gatebil

As some of you might know it was Gatebil this weekend at Rudskogen (in Norway )
and i went there as i had won a trip with the white gp.A Escort Cosworth.
This one...

I arrived at 10 o clock and waited and watched some racing series.
12 o clock i got 5-6 laps with the car, i really don't know how many as i really didn't care..
It was good fun and the driver is pretty good and the car went well.. it was said 560 bhp and yeah, atleast some of them were still alive..
We had some good and wide laps around the track but he ran out of fuel and we had to stop

I didn't get the chance to be co-pilot more but it was well worth the trip.
There was a lot of other cool and big bhp cars there, for example the RS500, various Cosworths, some beemers, some jap cars etc etc..

The Escort WRC was also there..

But not in a very good condition...
It will be rebuilt thou, and Gatebil had several fundraisers to get the car back on track..
The shirts on the car and stickers were sold to get some cash..

At 4 i had enough of cars for one day and went home to relax.. the fact that i only got 2 hours sleep the night before might have something to do with that but whatever.. it was a good day

And just so you lot can be jealous, here are a lot of image galleries..
Azzidos gallery
Oppbrukt.net
Bilparken.nu Saturday
Bilparken.nu Sunday
Automotor.no
Not just cars

And a video (it's all images but cool anywho)
http://vagner.jeje.je/filmer/haakon....ebilsept_1.wmv
13 megs.

And all my love goes out to the ones with copyright and stuff on the images.. but not in a gayLord way..

And yeah, this might a image of my trip...

If you car see a frightened passenger, well... then its me...
if not, sorry for bragging and using some others face and photo

It was a really good day..
how it could run out of fuel? pretty easy... there were no fuel left in the tank..
he was low on fuel before we started and really low when we were done....

the ones on the white grp a scort comodoras mate dunno where you can get them. might have to go over to norway or have them imported cos ive never seen them in england. the ones on the wrc escort are magnesium speedlines but you will have to luck everywhere to find some and you still wont find some. in another topic mike rainbird had some a long time ago. they are Ł500+ a piece.

Don't think you want the Cromodora's either....

Yeah, you're probably right.. not tooo expensive. but then it's approx 350 km driving to get to rudskogen, and then it's all the beer you english drinks, and that's expensive...

cheapest way is to fly to oslo (sandefjord) with ryanair and then get a hire car from rent-a-wreck - i kid you not http://www.rent-a-wreck.no/eng/

did it like that last year, but next year i wanna take a couple of cars over and camp

The rent-a-wreck idea is probably not a bad idea..
and Mr. Eggleton, still want the Cromodora's in 18" or 19"?

Robhaugen: hope you enjoyed the trip while it lasted, sorry he went out of fuel so early, but there isnt anything i can control either unfortunaly.

the cromodoras on the white escort actually belongs to the owner of the wrc escort, and the wrc escort came to the event on them, but the owner of the white escort wanted to borrow them, so he had to put the 19 speedlines on.
and believe me, those rims are a mess now

actually going to norway isnt that expensive if you live near london or newcastle as the plane and ferry tickets arent that expensive.
And rent a wreck can help you a long way, and staying in tent is half the experience =)

actually last year on this september meet i slept in my old escort mk2, without a heater, and it was raining all the time, aahh i remember waking up, getting out of my sleepingsack and putting some nice wet ice cold pants on
This year it didnt rain, but when someone pulls out the wire to your heater while sleeping in the back of a merc vito it gets really cold.
But hey, what is aprox no sleep, freesing and running around for 3 whole days when youre around such great cars and people

got warm on the saturday evening though

800hp supra "taxi". for 50quid you get the ride of a lifetime.

the old rs500 engine from the white banged up sierra now in a nice black sierra with a sellholm sequetial box

havent checked through all my tapes yet, but ill post up some more pics as soon as i find something more nice

Yeah, i really enjoyed the trip... Too bad about the lack of fuel but no one is to blame... except from Bossan
but it's okay.. got a few laps, had a laugh, wants to build a proper car now so all in all i had a really good day.

All this from Gatebil will be on the DVD? good..
