harddrive help

i have just got as 200gb seagate harddrive to replace a 30gb. the bios can detect the drive as a 200gb and windows installs the drive, but it doesnt show up in my computer!!! y is this. im running windows xp and i have a fair upto date pc. this is realy getting to me now so please help
i have just instaled a 200 bg hdd to my comp wat are u running it as a slave ? if so did u chage the thing on it to slave ?

Right, has this hard drive just been put in as a second drive ? In which case, as said, you will need to create a paetition and format the drive. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Adminsitritive Controls -> Computer Management -> Disk Management, there you should see the drive and can create a partition and format it

thanx for the help. and no it wasnt bought from maplin etc, it was from overclockers.co.uk1 dotn no howe much it was as it was a birthday prezzie. its a seagate drive so it is branded
it does see it in disk management but only as 121gb

i have just been told that win xp ( the older versions ) didnt support larger harddrives.... and to get a patch from the windows website!!! so i gona have a little loooky. thanx again for the help
