i was looking at a red rs2000 on ebay, in the photos it looks to have drums on the back, i though that they all had rear discs ? or did they get drums towards the end of production ?

yeah drums on last ones made if u want one i got a mk5a rs 2000 4x4 in red just had full resto new box from ford new transfer box too immaculate condition im after 2295 call me on 07955584382

yup , some RS2000's had drums , mainly towards the end of production

it seems ford fitted whatever was in the parts bin at the time

even a few SI's and GTI's ended up with discs from factory

why would ford fit drums near the end? Is it because they needed to save cash?

in short yes

its much easier to fit the same parts to every model where possible , and with 150 BHP and fairly light its not like the RS2K really needed discs

The later ones with drums have 4 wheel abs, where as the ones with discs have 2wheel abs. Ford deamed the rear discs over kill and went for drums and 4 wheel abs.

Very very few MK6's came with rear discs, I have one here...

They imediatly changed to larger drum and ABS so you find many MK6's with discs at the rear. It uses the MK5 ABS brain.

Yes was a cost saving on non metallics they had a duller under bonnet and late metallics they was white under the bonnet

my dark auberzine was black under the bonnet, does that class as metalic or pearl?

Yep mine was White under bonnet, am looking for photos now doing my head in trying to remember was 8years ago when I had it lol tipping draws out here trying to find it

2WD with rear drums

The above 2 things made me think there was something not right with it when I went to buy. Turns out that was normal for a RS2K

No not on mine Glen mate, have a look in that thread bud, it isnt easy to put discs on a MK6 cause of the ABS etc, you can use Focus ST set up and Puma stuff but if you look at mine it has MK5 ABS brain from factory.
