Got sod all to do with Ronaldo IMO. Last year we had a record breaking defence but as it stands we have midfielders in defence. Obviously that means you have a weak midfield too as a result.


*Edit, this was the team today. No defenders not even on bench. Ronaldo wouldn't do any good in defence would he and those thinking he would rescue us with a goal against the lower teams as he used to, well those players sacrificed for him wouldn't be there for him to free roam. That's a 3-5-2 for 'protection'. Crazy stuff.

yeah you got injury problems at the back but i just reckon your midfield aint exactly world class is it? not a great deal of flair,pace or creativity there since ronny left is there?
from what ive seen of them this season i think theyre the most boring united teams i can remember tbh

Probably the same as we did after losing Van Nistelrooy's 150 goals in 220 games. Other players just move up like Rooney for example who has started taking penalties in the same way Ronaldo did when Ruud left. The goals make the headlines but Ferguson played a team and tactics that ALLOWED him to free roam, take pens and all free kicks and not just take them but shoot all of them rather than cross etc.

Fans will always say we miss Hargreaves or Ronaldo or whoever isn't there when we lose but just look at the lineup today. No defence and that's the issue.

It amazes me liverpool fans are just seeing rafa's problems now. its not like he has started playing 4-5-1 this season, zonal marking, or playing strikers on the right wing (now its kuyt, it was cisse two years ago), and having no fucking idea how to use substitutes. he has been this way forever, its just its starting to catch up with him now. two years ago ago i brought all this up, and got told i didnt have a clue what i was talking about, give him time, he's the rite man for the job etc etc etc. 18 months ago jamie redknapp said after one of live games on sky, 'liverpool will never win the league while benitez is in charge', i agreed with him then, and i still fell the same now. last season was rafas peak, houllier had a similar season when he was in charge, when we also finished second, everything just seemed to gel, and everyone played well, a pinnacle so to speak, he even had me questioning myself, maybe i was wrong about him ?, maybe his way will work ?, but what it was, was everyone playing out of there skin, a one off, not an example of how good the team are as a whole.

Erm Fletcher has been doing amazing in midfield this season getting rave reviews and only Fabregas has more assists than Giggs. Valencia also has been getting amongst the goals and has PACE.

But with the WHOLE defence out Fletcher and Carrick for that matter have been in defence the last few games. I fail to see how it has anything to do with Ronaldo. Against Everton and West ham we scored 7 goals and got away with it but it was always going to catch us out sooner or later.

The point being (which you miss) that the defence is a mess and so makes the midfield have to be reshuffled.

Doesn't matter if you or I think he's world class, he's been getting good ratings from all this season and he's in form. Centre midfield that is not RB or CB.



Sorry mate but any team would be affected having this amount of players out especially when most of them are/have been from the same position.

We were shit today and well beaten but if you want to talk about the reasons at least look at what's staring you in the face not across to La Liga. 11 players out, that's more than anyone and includes 7 defenders and our first choice keeper. Bloody hell, that's a capable first team right there.

Yes but to be fair he did say that the season before too along with "the team that wins it will have 80 odd points". Liverpool got 86 and United won it with 90. Everyone is losing games and dropping points though I give you that.
