Hi all.
I'm a regular to Amsterdam, but I'v only very flown or by train.
Now I'm thinking bout next years European Ford Event and combining it with my yearly Dam trip.
Has anyone ever stayed in Amsterdam with there car, and there is no way on this plant im driving in the city, I love the place, but its a nightmare for cars.
so any idea on hotels?

Oh I know i wouldn't wanna take my car in the city, foot is the way I love to get round the city, then you can stop and stare where you want, and stop at what every coffee shop. What im looking for is a hotel that has a parking garage or a safe place to keep the car.

it can be a right coont to get used to the left hand drive based system in a right hand drive car and if you make a mistake and hit a cyclist your fucked...... its not overly bad but it is a busy place especially with the cyclists coming from all angles. if theres no other cars in view at the moment its easy to forget where you are and turn into on coming traffic.
my first experience was having to drive the work minibus home with 15 guys shouting go this way go that way after the normal driver broke his foot at work. we lost a wing mirror and clipped a few kerbs but nothing drastic.

i guess it was as safe as any english car park, and who in holland would want to steal a right hand drive english car?
was a bit expensive i think, but there were 4 of us sharing so between us it was acceptable. the alternative was to park out at the football stadium or airport and get the train in, but we went for the easier option.
