Real-time chat (as per MSN), multi person convo's (as per MSN), but without the hassle of MSN
Entirely different than a post based bulletin board system.
We used to have one back in the XROC BB days, and it was pretty good; so long as you're a registered board member, you just clicked the "Chat Room" link at the top of the page (up where New Posts etc is) and a new window opened with the chat room and whoever was also signed in. Simples. None of this adding people to MSN, etc etc, and good for those that don't use MSN (I don't, cos it's shite, and no-one I speak with regularly uses it either - Google Talk FTW!)

yeah but its been talked about before, i bet half the time it would be empty............
I think everyone would use a shout box if it was at the top of general though.

i think the shout box is a great idea, its at the top of the page and gets everyone involved together in "real" time, if that makes sense, no need to refresh the page all the time just to see if someone has sent an off topic reply etc cos off topics can go in the shout box, means the forum will be a lot cleaner and tidier.....

Thats the kind of logic I like to see! Because it's been talked about before, and not yet implemented, it's not worth talking about again or trying?
Imagine if thats what happened to the wheel! "well someone mentioned it once, but no ones tried it, so lets not bother"

Just because you don't think it will take off, does that mean thats the final say? I think what you mean is you wouldn't be interested in using it - well here's a shock for you - you don't HAVE to use something cos it's there!
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
Are you interested in bird watching? No? Strange, that seems to have taken off! Are you interested in train spotting? No? Strange, that seems to have taken off aswel! How about Collecting moths? Not your cup of tea - well hundreds of thousands of other people seem to like it!
The world doesn't revolve around you or what you think is a good idea or not
