Just sold my old phone on eBay for 112 quid.
And the buyer just sent me the following message;


Hello seller i am the winner of your item I will like you to get back to me with the postage cost to Nigeria cause am sending the item to my girl friend in Nigeria. I would have say you should ship the item to me in Uk but am not in the country right now am in Iraq right now. I was being transfer to iraq last 2 weeks. I work with United Nation. Kindly get back to me with the invoice including the postage cost. So that i can make the payment as soon as possible.

Is this a scam? I'm not Gona send the phone until I get the money thru paypal but if they do put the money in can they take it back again. Just don't wanna get ripped off.
Any advice guys?

Purely because of the use of the word 'Nigeria' I'd say it was a scam.

yes its a scam mate, a friend of mine sold a phone on ebay and the guy gave him a different postal address to post it to,turned out someone's acc had been hacked and pay pal took the money out of his acc as he did not post it to a regesterd address with paypal.tell him to jog on.

 

defo a scam summat very similar happened with me they wanted me post it to some church in nigeria iirc, also you will receive emails off what is meant to be ebay and paypal but trust me it aint, just tell the twat that the police are aware of whats going on and are investigating

 

also next time state in huge capital letters uk bidders only and in no circumstances no overseas bidders

just offer it as a second chance offer to the nexted highest bidder if it was a decent offer least u sell it to a proper uk buyer then

 

if in doubt make him pay for item as a 'GIFT' through Paypal then he can't get his money back once he's paided for it

 

Scam, sounds like a b/s story. If the buyer bids then wins the item, then makes a story about this that and the other before sending the money its a scam.

isnt this from the same country that has flame throwers fitted to their cars for security ? ive has 2 from here 1 bwt a british bulldog and 1 for i think it was a r/c car, just tell them your reporting them and they either say sorry or thats the end off it. open unpaid item strike then if they do pay just refund (but they wont pay).

 

arrggghhh this makes me so angry what a waste of time puting shit on ebay for peeps to send u mesages like this,tell him to get fucked and report him,,,and to be honest if he wins it i would send it to him!! no his daughter uncle daughter sister n law argghhhhh

i always put UK bidders only now a day... always get a nigerian winning otherwise.






also, make sure you ALWAYS post to the paypal address and get it signed for. i got stung like that by some cock from scotland sumwhere.

told the police, his house was empty and of course, from then on, they did feck all. joy.

aparently the paypal person had had well over 4k taken from there account
