Whit the focus it make's a diffrence but i think it's because you go from 16 to 18.
Whit the mondeo if it have the standart 17 and then to 18 it's not so a big diffrence.

Don't know if one available for the Mondy tdci but I fitted an egr bypass pipe on my Vdub and blanked of the pipe from the exhaust. Stops crap from the exhaust clogging up the inlet side of things.

Brian,

worth doing as there was a lot in there.

i got a very thin flat head screwdriver to get in and push the release part of it,did the trick, its hard to get at it and get it off the normal way.

very easy to do the fuel filter aswell, 3 push on fittings to get off, pull the filter out, fill it up,slot in,plug the pipes back on.

No Tiff it shouldnt affect the performance, by blanking off what you are doing is taking some of the fumes from the burnt fuel and stopping them entering the engine to be reburnt again, so efectively only letting in outside normal air now instead a mix of air and fumes,be aware though, if you have the electrical connector on the EGR and you blank it off, the ecu *MIGHT* read a resticted air flow and put on the engine managment light, How ever some people have had no problems at all with this, some have.

its worth the Ł3.50 just so you dont lose the MPG decrease as the EGR and Inlet get clogged up,you'll probably save Ł3.50 in the first month.

got mine ordered too.

Mark,

easy enough, once the egr is off and the multi clip on the inlet, thats a bit fidly lol, then 9 bolts on the inlet and its off.

i cleaned the ports on the head too, these were clogged up too.

scrapped them out then got a small brass wire brush, seemed to get most of it out.

re mpg, keep an eye on the temp gauge. when upto temp it should sit dead central and hardly ever move. theres a valve on the back of the waterpump which plays up, it's only about Ł10 and this creates too much flow around the systems when it breaks so the engine never gets upto temp!
Right so is that why my TDCI temp gague has been sodding about recently then?

If it is ill get one ordered and fitted after work along with an egr clean

Hey guys i had an ex police 54 plate TDCI 115bhp on 115k Miles ran mint but only ever seen about 34mpg around town and i never bothered with it as the mondeo owners club said it was normal.

I recently got a 02 plate Ghia x 130 Bhp TDCI showing 140k Miles, ran great but the mpg was ridiculous at a lowly 29mpg around town. First thing i done was service it, new oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter this has got it up to 34mpg around town, im gonna try this egr cleaning and inlet cleaning as i dont see the previous owners ever doing it as it was owned by a bank 1st then my friends dad who wouldnt even know how to change his own wheel, im dreading what comes out of it but hopefully it knocks the mpg up, is there anything else i could do ive heard cleaning the maf can work and theres a how to on wiki too.

600 - 630 over a week which is big motorway run each end of the week (steady away at 80-85 when poss) and round town all week and weekend. It's showing an average of 52.5 mpg at the moment

Mate and i know alot of people are gonna say im talking shite here, but on a steady run ive had over 800 mls to a full tank, i think it was 812 i kid you not!!

i think i get nearer 500+ with both motorway and town driving, if you believe theres an egg under the accelerator and when you come to trafic lights, let off the gas way before, you can really make a big diference.

The only reason i havent gone back to a performance car yet is because of the MPG i get out of my diesel
