the 202 block is/was a transit block as stated , but i also beleive they were a pallet replacement engine from fords for premature engine failures !!
eg you had a 6mth old transit at the time and the motor let go ford would replace with the pallet engine and these were designated as 202 blocks...

also heard a rumour these are a little stronger than the 205 blocks ,due to a differnt cast or mix of metal ???? (unsure about this 100% though)

Transit diesel block.
Can't be long studded, similar to 205 block in the lower end of cylinder.
It has a thicker wall Different core plugs to a 205 I think.
Not as good as a 200 block.
Read a few threads about this over the last 4/5 years, don't think they require much machine work to run a cossie.

Diesel ??? Transit petrol block, basicly it was first cast in 92 (hense the 02, 205 was cast on or after 85), stronger/thicker webbing at he rear to stop the block wings cracking with the huge bellhousing adapter plate the transit used, heavyer than a 205 block as well and i seem to recall smaller core plugs possably ?
If you find one in a pre 92 transit it's cos it's had a replacement engine after the factory ran out of 205 blocks.

Transit 'Pinto' Diesel? WTF?

No.....the 202 Block that came from a Pinto (Injection) was a Petrol!

the Diesel's were 2.5cc...... Nothing like a PETROL Pinto engine

You can use them for a cossie, just use the cossie crank, rods etc
