Default Diesel injectors on Mondeo........Can you tell which one is leaking

I have a leaking injector on my Mondeo TDCI...........

Only an issue when sat overnight as it puffs out a small white cloud on startup.

But is there a way of telling which injector it is??

only correct way is doing a leak off test on the injectors.using a kit or 4 pipes on the return pipes connected top bottle u see which one is returning most fuel

Basically [from my non technical brain] you can remove the leak off pipes, put tubes on the joints which go to little bottles on the end [hung up high]. Run the car for a bit, if they don't have the same amount of diesel in each bottle, there's a problem. What the problem is depends but at least you can identify which injector it is.

You can buy the flow testers for about £60 or make your own with tubes and bottles.

Did you actually read the answers above?

Do a leak off test to identify which one it is. If it's leaking over night, it'll be leaking under pressure too!

And iirc you can't just replace an injector on the TDCi engine DIY style, it'll need to be coded to the car. It may just be a seal anyway, in which case you can get replacement kits from Ford.

You can just remove the leak off pipes, disconnect the electrical plugs and crank the engine over. You shouldn't have any fuel coming out of the leak off holes on the injectors while their in this state. If you do, then they are faulty. The more that is coming out, the more worn out the injector is. You may find that they are all getting tired.

Once you have fitted the new injector, you will need to take it to someone who has the facility to recode injectors. Make sure you note down the 16 digit number off the side of the injector and which cylinder you fitted it to (the cylinder numbers don't tie up to injector numbers).

You could remove them and get them reconditioned and then refit them back in their original cylinders then they wouldn't need recoding.
