They,re quite lardy so i,d image you,d need a good old bit of BHP in them to make them feel responsive, i don,t know cus i,ve not been in one but i,m sure Lee wil tell us....

Performance is relative to what you are used to I think plenty will harp on about them being lardy but if you are used to sub 200bhp cars then a Skyline will feel quick whichever way you cut it certainly stage 1 on the road despite what people will say about them is still very damn quick in the real world.

As above really, great cars, huge though, great road presence and highly tunable engines, V V Expensive to fix bodywork (if u smash it)

Mate had a really nice one with 576whp @ 1.6 bar on fairly standard engine, it shifted but had to rev it to get it to go!

personally i'd go for a 32 and tune it as much as I love the 34.

Awesome to look at... mine was modded and great fun on track. NASTY and harsh on road....

I had the Porsche and the R34 for a year at the same time.... Porsche is on a completely different planet to drive, own and live with.

The only thing I liked about the Skyline was the rear seats... and the chavvy, boy racer but STUNNING looks!

Alot of R34's are rotten now. Be VERY careful. I would NEVER EVER touch another as far as I could throw one.

The legendary RB26 is gutless and pretty fragile in my experience as well! oh.... and I had a good one apparently!!!!

These were the pics that made me but it without even seeing it or driving it! :cry?

was good on track for big old beast

well i owned a 34 gtr for about 18months,2.8 hks engine circa 650 hp and all i can say was one of the most reliable and quick allround cars ive owned, took alot of abuse ,but did have all the usual upgrades ,brakes suspension etc, only thing replaced in all that time was a triple plate clutch and did 14,000 miles in the 18 mths, but as porkie says be carefull with the rot as ive owned 2 and both were pretty good underneath but did have to look at a few to find a descent one

How much BHP/torque was yours running then Porkie? You sure it wasn't because you had the 996 turbo at the time it was influencing your opinion on it?

not a joke at all

Gutless as in NO torque.... compared to the 911 and the Sierra I had at same time. Obviously went ok when you rev'd the nuts off it.... and was FEARSOMELY fast around castle combe.... BUT on the road... felt relatively gutless.

yes was tuned by gary at GT ART to dyno proven 522bhp... and a about 100lb ft torque!

and yes I think they are fragile. mine was rebuilt at 25k miles and had it had a JUN oil pump fitted but as standard... they are poo. Especially R32 and R33 engines in my opinion and experience...

mine blew both of its 2530 Turbos at brands hatch.... did a triple plate (NASTY to use) HKS clutch... also blew the centre diff and lots of other niggles and problems including needing a new and silly expensive rear Hicas shite...

hadn't yours just needed a LOAD of work on the RB26? let me guess.... oil problems caused it to spangle the crank?

A nice R32 or R33 is a great car that makes an Escos feel like a tractor to drive and they are a BARGAIN....

nice R34 prices are still highish and that puts them up against cars that make them look unreliable and overpriced.

of course.... but at the time my Skyline was worth say 30k and the 911 60k... so you would expect it to be alot better.

Prices are ALOT closer now!!!!

Porsche is FAR superior in my opinion and experience.

my crank / shells let go but it was because it had a jun pump fitted and no sump mods ! mine feels lively from 3500 rpm up, makes 430 lbft at 5000 - 6500 rpm. .
the r34s are quite abit heavier though.

what torque was your making mate ?

Was less than half the price of the R34.

A good and nicely modded one is half the price of a slower and agricultural escos...

Like the R32... they are performance bargains.

mine never mad that kinda Torque, I will dig out the dyno graphs. I had receipts for over £50k's worth of mods with the car as well!!!!

from memory it made 380lb ft... at around 5k

The 911 makes over 500lbft at just over 3k.... hence the R34 felt gutless....

and kept breaking things LEFT RIGHT and CENTRE!!!!!

me and Maria raced them for about 50 miles once... over various roads. She was in the 911... and WALKED away from me 90% of the time!

we also did a side by side 170mph race in the Sierra and 911 a few weeks later on that private racetrack just by the M25

I was hugely surprised how torqueless one felt compared to a 2JZGTE Supra.

I don't think you'll ever see a better looking (virtually) standard car than that though

Dear god that's nice. And the best colour of any car ever.....

errrrr????

why didn't you just but a FAR superior GTR??

unless someone else spent the millions making that look like something its not???

looks amazing though AND RESPECT FOR NOT PUTTING GTR BADGES ON IT!!!!!

Gts and Gtt are GREAT cars.... but if you are gonna spend all that money.... AND make it look like a GTR... then surely just get a GTR?

carbon roof... V COOL by the way....

and on the subject of carbon. I prefer the TRUST rear Carbon end by one had to yours. The standard Nismo kit that you have looks very 'heavy' at the rear only.... else where its COOL though...

heres my beaten up Carbon arse! to show you what I mean

or and one last piccy.... amazing looking car.

i'd love a gtr but i just cant afford one. most of the work was done to the car before i bought it and i got it for a very reasonable price. its the closest think to a gtr that i'll ever own and with 500 odd horses on tap it would take on any stock gtr.
i never would put a gtr badge on it, not a chance. it is what it is, a very modified GT-T and i have always said that when people ask me about it.

im just a tad hurt mate, by the escos tractor comment!! i just find some porsche drivers are cocky, i find that, there ignorent(not porkie) because the the fact is the devalue rate on a porcshe is stupid, its like throwing you money out the window!! and they have a smug look when they look at you in your escos which is still worth 15k plus at 16years old, i go out my way to distroy them on the duels..

it really winds me up..

I agree with Lee having spunked over 40K into my escos then having to strip it to get half the money back, i then bought a lightly modded 996 turbo and its a different world to drive just feels like it is ment to be doing the speeds and feels like it could do it all day.

RB cranks fail mostly because ALOT of people dont know about there oil control problems.

I have a R32 GTST drift car with a RB20 and I love it for what it is and what it cost me.
