Right need a bit of advice here. I seem to remember a while ago that if you have an accident in car that has already previously been listed as a total loss (CAT D in this case) that the insurer will not pay out market value but a percentage of the market value.
Can anybody in the know advise as I have a chap telling me I'm talking shit. I don't mind beaing wrong but would like to know for sure

mostly a cat d is worth 75% of normal value. however i have seen a good few at normal value due to them being photo documented right through the repair process

as above... if the repairs are well documented.. they may pay market value.. other than that around 20% deduction for cat d... can be a bit more (iv seen up to 50%) for cat c

No hard and fast rules, all depends on the insurer, at the end of the day they have to replace the car and put you back into the situation your were in before the accident.

i did pick up a chap when i was doing recovery, he had a bmw and it had been written off twice. and guess what, he had had an accident an done it again. this time his insurance paid for the recovery home but not the car.
