Wont be marking any more of your words then
Yeah thats a good point, let me think for a bit, oh wait, thats absolute bullshit
well over £60k raised for shelter, and still rising
I dont get why everyone is getting so serious about all this? RATM won. Mainly because people didnt want to see x factor at number 1. If cowell has made another few hundred k out of this, then so be it. I personally dont give a fuck, and I aint bought anything, but I enjoyed the competition, it was the like the good old days, when there used to be a race for xmas number 1. Same again next year anyone?
And ffs, pardeep what you on about man? REAL musicians this, REAL musicians that. whatever
Merry fucking christmas, pricks

its easy to spot a real musician...he's the one stacking shelves in tesco with a large chip on his shoulder whilst complaining about everyone selling out.

Look at it this way. Take 2 VERY talented bands. One produces a nice easy listening track with no harsh lyrics, but a good catchy tune. The other produces a track with profanities, heavy basslines and screechy vocals. Which will sell more records?
I'll tell you, Band One will sell to a potential audience of perhaps 80% of the population (kids/adults/old folk etc). Band Two will sell to a potential audience of perhaps 20% of the population (some adults, but unlikey kids/old folk).
After that, its a mathematical probability issue.

Now THAT is a crock of bollocks. You're getting it the wrong way round. The chart is there to measure the success of the single. How it is promoted is down to the artist/label. OK, so maybe its a slightly flawed industry, but it's not the only one that is. What would have been more fair would have been for RATM to write a new single, or even better still, do a cover of Miley Cyrus 'The Climb' in their style, then promote that in a fair way. If that had won the 'war' then fair enough. Point proven.

I'm actually not that bothered. For the record, I don't mind the RATM single, it was my kind of music when it came out (not any more really though). It's the whole protest that grinds my gears. You do seem to be the one getting more excited about the whole thing, I must say.

Christian, it's time to accept you were wrong about something on pf. Not sure how to console you really, other than to ask you not to do anything stupid(I can imagine how you feel). Alot of people on this thread think you're a dick, but there might be some way to have some kind of other use in life, and you will find it one day.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
This protest proved ONE thing and ONE thing only. There are alot of people on Facebook and naturally with any networking site, things spread like wildfire and everyone just jumped on the bandwagon, not necessarily because they like RATM, just because they wanted to be rebels. Wooosh. Out of all those that bought the single, I bet 3/4 of them did it for that reason and theres my justification for saying that it was a pathetic and pointless thing to do.
Next year, why not pick a proper Christmas song like The Pogues & Kirsty McCall with Fairytale of New York - it was pipped to number 1 in 1987 by the Pet Shop Boys' cover of "Always on My Mind".
Shane MacGowan famously said "We were beaten by two queens and a drum machine."
