Default Steering rack pipes that go into 2WD rack?

Finished fitting the new rack last night on my 2WD, and on closer inspection one of the 2 pipes (the bottom one) that goes into the rack and is held in by the plate with the bolt isn't a tight fit into the hole???I think this is the return from the rack as it goes into the top of the PAS bottle. I haven't tested it yet as the battery was flat, so i can't see if it leaks, but my question is, is this "normal" ???

If you get a chance replace the o rings on the pipes because when they let go it emptys your power steering fluid all over the floor in about 5 seconds, then you have to drive home with no power steering

Cheers, yeah the O'ring looks fine. Can't you just get another bottle or is it the hose that's damaged (just cut the end off), the bottles are the same for all sierras.

Fortunately I just managed to get the fluid all over the underside of the front of the car when the rack burst, that was a joy to clean up........

the plate secures the pipework, so if it's lose it's going to leak

you can always try and bend it back the other way if it's not going to be stressed out too much and snap off, in which case you need to get a new pipe, or find another pipe with the plate, cut it off and fit it to be doubly sure
