Just wondering if I need to let them know in advance that I want to withdraw a large amount of money over the counter from my current account?

always best to and they would possibly want to see extra ID aswell.

best to rinf them some have limits to what you can take in one day even when ordered and many want 24 - 48 hours.

Im with A&L, just call them and say you want X amount on X day, as long as you give them 48hrs there wont be a problem...

freaky i was just about to put a thread up about the same except Natwest.

would Ł3k over the counter be a call before job? i know Lloyds TSB are ok with just going in and taking it.

Dont need to call up, i have on various times just put my card in the thingy and asked for amounts ranging from 3k to 7k
