Default Quick PC question

If I'm viewing something for eg Pf then I decide to open up another programme instead of the new one opening up in a new window it closes down Pf then opens it up in place of that.

How do I get the pc to open up new applications in different windows?

I hope that makes sense

i use ie 8 and it has tabs rather than new windows. 7 was the same.

if you use 6 then there will be an option to select open in new window.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I don't want to do that lol, if I'm viewing this page for eg then I get a pop up saying I have an email & then I click the pop up to take me to my email instead of it opening up a new tab it opens up in place of the page I was viewing (I hope that makes more sense)

some sites do that, what i do is open up a new tab prior to clicking on your email pop up etc, then it will open in the empty tab as opposed to the tab which already has a page open

Man that's a fucking long thing

It never used to be like this, it used to be brilliant, opening up in new tabs, not giving me any grief oh what good times we shared but now...
I just don't know what I've done wrong for it to just change overnight, I haven't treated it badly, I've always been good to it, cleaned the dust out & everything, I just don't understand

Press Ctrl and N together, and it will open a new window.

or

You can use the right mouse button, and select either open in new window or new tab.
