Default anyone work in car body shop ?

morning, does anyone work in car body shop on here?

just wanted to ask a question about a full car respray.

im thinking about getting my car resprayed soon, seen a guy who is very cheap, all i buy is basecoat.

prep work etc is all in in price, the guy said the car can be prepped and resrpayed in a day as they have a oven.

just curious as i thought it would take at least a couple of days to sand down then a day to spray etc?

guy said a car can be prepped in 5 hours with 3 guys and 2 hours in oven after respray.

does this sound about right?

thankyou

dunno 3 guys working on it, depends ont he state of the car and allowing shrinkage time on primer if they have done some clagging

i would stick my neck out and say yes it is possiblle,

i myself can nib off a straight car have it masked and panel wiped ready for paint in a couple hours

end of day if theres minor fillering and primering, the primer will go off well quick in oven, flat back, scotch the car off, degrease mask and your off

3 men can geta lot done

however then the car may need to come backa time later for a little tickle and mop etc depends on how clean there area is

thinking about white.

seems very cheap price to me at 450.00 all you buy is the basecoat.

hes not far from me so thought i would ask some opinions first.

i did ask him how he can get the job done so quick he said

"because bodyshops do more than one car at one time, there will be 3 guys working on your car , a car can be prepped in 5 hours and only takes 1hr n half to spray baked in 45 mins. Its a 100,000 booth not a cheap hairdryer than bodyshops use"

I wouldn't expect much for a day and less than 500 quid. Thats just a blowover at mates rates IMO.

Are you changing the colour too? If so then definately wouldn't expect much

It is a bit quick imo.

Is it a stripped car? are the panels good and dent free? are the door shuts etc being done?

I think your most likely looking at a flash over rather than impressive spray job tbf.
