No, the date for Ford Fair IS set, and USC is the following weekend, but TOTB could be on either of those days, it's down to noise regs at Elvington or something.

personally id rather be at ford fair then totb ,,
dan will ford fair be a two day event this year ??

Beefy - it's still a one day show unfortunately. The amount it would cost to make it a two dayer means we'd make a lot less money for a lot more work!

that was at totb 5 years ago when it was just a piece of tarmac, on an old runway not the fully glued 1/4 mile track it now is lol
but my fastest time now is 12.1@126 on R888's but that is the only run i have done on the current spec
#65
well if you have the power and you get a good 60ft and dont the hit the limiter or miss any gears then what am i missing ?? genuine question?
#66
thats a cracking time and a good terminal aswell thats got to be near 400hp ?? do you know what the 60ft was on that time ?

A 2.2 on his car may make for a fantastic time (which it clearly does) and getting a better launch on his car will improve his time... but... dependent of where he might change from first to 2nd might actually show as a worse 60ft time even though it was a better launch and better ET time.
#68
sorry i was wrong its not 126
60ft- 2.2042
330ft- 5.6278
1/8 8.15
1/8 97.4
1000'- 10.23
1/4 -12.10
1/4-124.11
i change out of first gear at 30mph iirc
and yes the car is give or take 400, i will run faster next year as my 60ft will get better

You were comparing yours and sbd16v's 60ft times. 2 completely different cars, gear ratios, geometry set ups, bhp, torque, power deliverys etc etc, yes... the better you van make A cars 60ft the better that car will go,

and i was only comparing his 2.2 on drags to my 2.2 on 888s i really thought they would do better than that if not ill stick to my 888s and save the cash

a 12.6 isnt fantastic nor is a 2.2 60ft thats why i asked what his 60ft was on the 12.1 run as i dont think that he made all that time just on the extra 5mph terminal from his extra power but i could well be wrong ??

It is a very respectable time... on a prodomenently track set up car it is good.
And i think you have looked completely through what i said if you think a 888 will be nearly as good as a drag radial, but its ok... its your few quid you'll be saving not mine ha ha
Have you ever run your car on not sticky tyres at pod?

Was only asking if you had tried sticky against non sticky to see if you even noticed a difference between them, but if you've tried drag tyres against 888's and found no difference does that make you wonder why?
#77
well yes it did but i thought it might of been because they were street legal ones in the usa against a street legal uk cut slick (888) .the side walls were harder than my 888s and now i know the lad with the astra got the same results or am i wrong ??

His 'same results' are on 2 different surfaces using different tyres... so not really comparable, yes your wrong about the side walls bit.
Like i said at the beginning you cant compare your 60ft against his. far more to it than that.

Mickey Thompso ET Street RADIAL were the most extreme tyre allowed in the road car class this year. NO Wrinkle wall style tyres were allowed, although the RIPS Skyline bore a C-class sticker indicating road class and was using ET Street wrinkle walls. Not sure what that was all about.
Obviously MT's, BFG's and any of the US tyres are illegal for road use in the UK as they do not carry the E marking. Only DOT markings. Although they are generally accepted in racing events as being legal here.
As to whether these tyre rules continues under Trevors rule, that is yet to be announced.
And for some vehicles tyres can make a massive tdifference at Elvington. For others, not so much. Must be very vehicle dependant.
I tried 888's and MT DR's last year at Elvington, and there was negligable difference over the 1/4.
Ive tried same on different occasions at Santa Pod. The DR's were able to net me 60ft's some 0.4-0.5s quicker than the 888's with ease. I seemed to have zero traction on the 888's !!
This year I never even bothered with DR's, and only used 888's. I'd probably have been better using full wet road tyres though lol
