Default EDITED - Severn Valley Railway on Christmas eve - Pic's now.

A colleague of mine recommended it so I purchased a family ticket today to take the family on it Christmas Eve.

Santa Steam Special - a train ride to a location where the kid's get to meet Santa get prezzies then back home again after finding some where for lunch.

Sound fantastic and not badly priced tbh just wondered if anyones had experiance of it before?

Cheers.

Quite a famous one although I thought it had closed. Used to do a lot of the steam railways with my Dad as a kid as my grandfather worked on them when he came out of the army.

Nene Valley Railway is another one.

Not a bad day out for the kids tbh kev, we took ours a couple of years back and they enjoyed it. Bit of hanging about waiting for santa, but all the folks who work there are friendly enough (and all volunteers as well) so the time passes quick for the kids.

Park at kiddy station, half decent cafe there (to get a warm drink from)

Cheers Matt, they've said for us to get there 45 mins early and thought it maybe a little bit of hanging about but the cafe sounds a good plan lol

Yeah, it's a decent crack, something a bit different. Not actually been on the train in years now, but sometimes head over to the Railwayman's Arms on the platform. Good to watch the trains on a summer's evening or on a crisp day in the winter.

That looks great and a bit of snow helps I went on a steam train in the summer from an old station like that and it was great, steam trains are so much more interesting to ride on than todays trains.

I love to see some of the old stations remain intact, I didn't think they were but I know sod all about trains.
