converting mk6 gti escort into a turbo Q's
hey guys been thinking for a while to start a side project and use my old CVH engine (once rebuild) and put it into a mk6 escort gti, i used to own a mk6 and really liked the car it just needed to be quicker!
Anyways, i was speaking to ollie from here a few nights ago about doing this and i was wondering what needs to be done if i wanted to fit the CVH engine into a MK6 that came with a Zetec engine.
I know people will just say "go zetec turbo" but i already have a CVH engine sat here.
What needs to be done to the loom etc, do you just remove the zetec loom and fit a FRST OFAB ecu with the FRST CVH loom wired into the mk6 car loom?
cheers.

Dont forget the money/time spent on wiring adaptions and engine mounts and all the other little bits etc etc
Youd be better off selling the CHV and putting the money to something like some tasty bike carbs to strap on to your zetec
Would probably be quicker IMHO

The fiesta boys are quite upto date on TB's. lots of fez and escort mk5/6 zetec on here.

Here is a fitting guide using GSXR 1000 throttle bodies to a Zetec engine, mounting on an ST170 inlet manifold.

200+ BHP is not uncommon

nah bang on an xr2i efi head (same as frst but cheaper) then its piss easy as you zetec big end has the cps already
you wont be running daft power on std big end but 15psi will be happy enough and theres plenty of grunt there too, big cooler required if you want to push it
best thing is it it goes pop fit another £50 engine and of you go again
i much pref doin a zvh with a good tinkered with head than rebuilding tired cvh's

Id still go TB's, They are a piece of piss to put on a zetec, and far less worries in terms of something going wrong or reliability issues.
And in terms of BHP for your money (taking into account doing the modification and insuring it) I dont think you will get much better.

Just think how much more problems there are gonna be with a zvh or cvh.
With the TB's its generally a one off mod, unlike a turbo conversion where your almost guranteed there will be plenty of future work and fucking around long after the conversion is actually "finished".

im new to the tuning scene so sorry if im a bit slow but why can you not keep the zetec head and crankcase together if you are turbo-ing a car, so like a zetec turbo? as opposed to zvh
would this not make far more power, with it being four valves not two?
has anyone done it and how much would it cost?

the problem with building a turbo is there are alot more things to consider so if you doing it DIY the T/B's is the way to go imo.
either that or keep it zetec and bolt a de-comp plate on the engine, you then have to buy a turbo -stage 2 T3 at least
an intercooler- frount mount really.
have your radiator adapted for watercooling if you want that.
all teh pipework and bits n bobs
oil return to sump
and loads of other little bits like oil coolers etc that may or may not be needed dependant on spec.
the T/B route is cheapest and easiest and sounds great
