fast road cams??????
hi guys im after some info from you experts, i have a 1.8 16v dohc zetec engine ( think its 130 bhp standard) what diference will it make if i were to put fast road cams in????

About 10bhp or so. Depends on the cam spec, other mods on your engine, mapping as well. Cams tend to spoil some of the mid range torque but what you lose mid range and low down you gain up top. Depends what you want. Try get cams from the US: Crower, Comp, ZEX etc better than UK Spec Kent or Piper.

wow 10bhp thats disapointing, i had some put in an old orion 1.6i ghia cvh engine and it made a massive difference. hmmmm doesnt sound like its worth the expense to me then, im after a reasonably priced mod that will improve power noticably......

What did you expect mate...and did you ever RR the 1.6 ghia after the cam because 10-15bhp is all you will ever get really on a cam change unless you are working with about 3.0-4.0+ litres worth of engine capacity.
What mods have you currently got?
4-2-1 manifold would be a good move if you haven't got one already.

the engine is standard so standard manifold, what would a 4-2-1 maifold do how much are they? the cvh engine i had with cams was dome for me just the pulleys and cam i think was done and it revved off the counter, did 70 in second screaming lol that was 13 years ago now so i learned a little respect

4-2-1 manifold would give gains all across the rev range you'd gain a nice amount of torque and bhp all over. That and a cat back exhaust should see the engine performing much better! 4-2-1 manifold can be had from as little as about £80 up to about £200 cat-back anything from £100 up to £350.
