Default Sorry about the current site problems. (November 17th 09)

Most issues are now resolved after installation of some hardware to block the DDOS attacks. Early on Thursday last week (PST) all our websites encountered such an attack and while our network is setup to handle very substantial traffic (it deals with over 50 million visitors and 650 million page views each month), as has been seen by other large internet sites (Twitter, Facebook, Google et. al.) such a large scale attack will cause connection difficulties regardless of what some IT trained members on here would have you believe...

In this we were no different, and it wasn’t until sometime on the weekend where we were able to implement a successful resolution to the issue. We spent a significant amount of time with our service providers to identify solutions to help mitigate this attack and have put in place significant amount of hardware to filter out the traffic.

For security purposes, we have been instructed not to provide more in-depth information beyond this but please rest assured that our databases were never impacted and that no information was breached.

As part of the implementation of the resolution you may have encountered some issues with the site and its functionality, we are working through each of those items, and if you come across an issue, if you could please post it in the help forum to ensure that we have seen it, it would be appreciated.
We have been
(and continue to) work around the clock until all the issues are resolved, our apologies for the inconvenience.

Basically, lots of "fake connections" to the website, using up all of the bandwidth making it slow.

If you want in-depth info about it, see

Even simpler than above it's when lots of women talk to you at one time about their makeup, your brain goes into overload and you end up not being able to hear any of them as it starts to kill every brain cell you ever had.

Also, imagine trying to masturbate with people working in on you every 5 minutes. You're never going to cum are you.

Analogies are cool.

We are aware of the possible connection issues and will be taking the website offline at approximately 11pm on the 5th to investigate the problem in some detail whilst performing a database server upgrade.
