About To Buy My First Supra
Well
As i cant find a decent saff for 5k I have decided to buy possibly the cheapest Twin Turbo Manual Supra in the country.
My cousin wants rid, he has offered it to me at a price no one could refuse, so I have decided to give it a punt.
Knowing me i wont have it for long as i wouldn't want to spend the money taking it to the next level. (and there is quite a profit in it lol)
So Anyway its a bit chavved up so im looking forward to posting the Pictures, My cousins 23 so he is a very young supra owner therefore it has a massive dodgy front bumper on it, japanese poncey graphics on the side and a big stereo.
Ive told him he can keep the stereo and im pretty sure the vinyl will be coming off as soon as i get it.
So
Does anyone know what they are like, I have never driven one. I have however had a 33GTR , Are they better? Quicker? Will it feel faster than the 330hp escos?
So i hope this thread gives a few a laugh lol, please dont let me kid you into thinking i think these are good looking because i dont. Its purely something ive never had and its ridiculously cheap.
Let me know what you think.

One thing i would also like to ask is these are generally going for about 8k in manual i know so i cant price this accordingly.
Now i love cosworths But realistically i can buy a 350-400hp twin turbo manual Supra for less than i can buy a decent saff.
What are peoples thoughts on this.

I like them, de spoilered they look great too!
As much as I like cosworths, I think for the money they command these days you can buy better cars!
I dont think it takes much to get decent power out the supra's, fuel cut defencer, exhaust, intercooler and raised boost should see a decent gain, forget what one recently made on the rollers we had in but it went pretty well for not having much done to it.

Its an import though so has the weaker turbos which will hold it back.
Amazing what you can get for decent saff money these days.

I think you should man up and fit a turbo like this to it:

how useful this is I dont know but these have been tuned upto 1000bhp on standard internals in the past but the simple "bpu" (basic power upgrade) raises the power to 400bhp, as stated here.....

Its only costing me Ł4500 quid so im not going to turn it down. Ive done the deal tonight but im picking up tommorow.
It will go up for Ł6995 if i dont like it which after looking around will be cheap enough compared to the others.
Should sell quick if i decide thats what i want to do, we shall see if i like it and of course i will keep the thread updated with what i think of it.
Cant say no at this money. Im seeing them for nearly 10K lol......

I think you'l like it tbh....the interior's are a bit dated looking but im sure you've saw it before, I imagine it to drive much like a 34skyline, civilised, easy to drive but when you open it up its a different car!

i like jap cars. ive always been into them before the cosworth conversion projects. my first project was an old rwd celica supra(1985) cosworth converted because i couldnt get insurance if id used a 2.5 twin turbo skyline engine.
that big old bus though is a medallion mans car for old guys with ponytails who are going through a mid life crisis.

i like the supra. but whenever ive driven one ive always thought of it more as a GT car than an out an out racer. the back end feels very heavy and on tight corners it will step out easily. the engines are tough as, and they are suprisingly econmical for a big twin 6cyl. they sound mean on a decent exhaust and with a manual they are good fun.
very heavy tho.

i was more thinking about bends. compared to the lightweight cossy's the big supra is gunna feel abit of a bus in the bends. i found in the past a pair of coilovers sorts them tho. standard they are very soft.

Great cars! I almost bought a UK twin turbo. Much better spec than the imports. The supra's, whether imports or UK models, seem to vary so much in price. Ive driven both and i must say i do prefer the auto over the manual. The UK tt auto is still on my 'list of cars to own' at some point.
Its one of those cars that are powerful, smooth and comfortable and then you get a bit of a shock when you look down at the speedo.
