It has to have a valid mot AND tax! If its not taxed, it has to have been taxed within the last 6 months at least!

nope, it -has- to have an mot! I know this as when i stripped my cossie I was originally going to sell the plate seperately and as the MOT had run out I literally had to get it MOT'd the same day that it started to get stripped DOH!!!! Ł35 wasted, even more so considering I ended up selling it with the shell/logbook anyway

Not always will someone come out to inspect it. When I removed my plate it was out of tax but declared sorn. Sent the form & cheque away and received the retention certificate not long after

yeah tis a pain in the ass, I phoned DVLA to question it but they said no way without MOT and tax. Worse thing is, you dont actually own the plate either, just the rights to use the plate against the car its registered too, hence scrap the shell or sell it on and the plate goes with it

no I know hence the reason I got it MOTd the day it was being stripped, nearly lost out but had a tip off and phoned the DVLA and thats what they told me so quickly phoned gaz @ CPP who was stripping it for me and told him MOT it first! Give DVLA a call first thing in the morning and tell them your predicament, see what they say and how they can help

Well heres the deal, theirs 2, yes TWO screwes on either side on BOTH plates (usually under the lil ingenious caps!!) pop the caps off with a flat driver, then unscrew with USUALLY a philips, but may also be flat headed so be ready!!
once undone, pop off she falls, easy, same as normal plate pmsl
