Default reusing cosworth head bolts?

is this a good idea i had the head of to skim and wondering should i reuse the head bolts? cheers hugh

no mate they are use once only as they are stretch bolts

they are cheap enough for a new set not to re use them

Its a myth about them not being able to be re used though -I have done this a couple of times over the years when needs must over a weekend when a new set could not be found in time, and never had a problem.

Anyone who did physics in school will know that any metal that has not reached its elastic limit will return back to its original shape, yes they stretch but as long as they have not been over torqued, when the tension is released on them they will return to their original length.

The whole point of using a stretch bolt is so that they can expand and contract as the head and block warm up and cool down in order to keep the head face sealed.

If they have been over torqued though then they are shot, but a quick measure will confirm this as they wont return back to their original length
