ive decided i need a tool/chest cabinet for all my tools and bike parts to be kept in one place
ive only got £150 max to spend and the cabinet/chest needs to be 13 drawer & has to be long/deep/wide as poss
no snap on mega cabinets costing 2k
the best i can find price/size wise is a halfords set
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165667
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165667
they look like they will do the job but is there any better ones out there for the same price/size?
cheers in advance

don't be expecting anything great pal, nothing against halfords stuff, but only their industrial ones are worth a toss.
i bought the cheap ones and got rid of them in no time, then i bought some clarke ones and were better, which lasted a couple of years and then looked at spending bigger money and checked out some snap on/mac/teng tools etc. then saw an offer for some halfords ones and thought i'd check them out since they came in at less than £300 for top and bottom chests, which was less than half my budget at the time.
Well what do you think happened, after dicking about ragging the drawers etc. in the store for a while, i bought them, i'm semi pro now and moving into a bigger garage soon to go full time and they'll be staying with me, absolutely up their with the best i assure you.
cheap ones will store tools, but you'll have to piss around making sure the drawers shut properly when you lock them and the drawers even if ball bearing won't slide too well.

already looked at machine mart and there "massive price cuts on cabinets & chests"
and could save a whole £11 in their sale![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)

i know the halfords ones arent gonna be brilliant but im not gonna be using them everyday, ive looke at clarke ones and the ones in my price range are too small
anyone else know any good 13 drawer cabinets for less than £150?

for a box, snap-on. i'm not biased working for them quite simply i've bought the stuff for years, the difference between snap-on and even a mac, matco, teng etc..... which are meant to be competetors is night and day in all honesty.
look into tool boxes and how there made and you will find out snap on boxes have 4 times the amount of spot welds, the finishing on the boxes are 2nd to none, good quality slides that dont sieze or go notchy, the drawer construction is unique and you can actually pull a snap on draw out, stand in it and it will not effect the way the draw opens and shuts etc....
the picture of an american garbage truck stood on top of a few snap on boxes and the drawers still opning and closing fine even with all that weight on it is proof alone of the quality and durablilty of the boxes.
£150 wont get you much though tbh only a 2nd hand small roll cart, or extremely tatty and olf roll cab

well this morning i took a trip to halfords and machine mart to try a few out and see what i want
deffo gotta be ball bearing one, looked at halfords proffesional and clarkes hd ones
was quite shocked how much side to side play there was in the drawers of the clarkes hd ones![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
the halfords one had little less side to side play but most were locked and the one i did find that was open had broken/rough drawers![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)

Get on fleabay and buy a second hand Sealey (American Pro) one. They aren't the best but I'm afraid for £150 you arent going to get much! The Sealey ones are always on offer and normally you get those deals where they fill it up with toold for free so there are plenty of second hand ones about.
I have just upgraded to a large Snap-On box that I got second hand but in new condition for £700. My old Sealey one went up for sale for £150 and I didn't get any takers. I can only assume because you can buy the halfrauds ones for not alot more?? In the end I let my mate have it for £60. To be honest if I didn't need the cash I would have just kept it at that price.
