Default Malton Forest Rally 2009: My Pics

Hi all,

Well...I went to the Malton Forest Rally and got absolutely soddin drenched to the bone, my poor D50 got wet and then when we got into the car and the temperature got up, the D50 stopped working and gave up on me.

Condensation must have built up and so I had to remove the battery, memory car and open all covers so that it could dry on the way home and luckily once home it did begin to work again. Now I have waterproof covering for the camera inthe pipeline for when it next rains lol!

Anyway, crap light didn't help, pouring rain and general misserable conditions meant I was shooting ISO 800, manual F4 and shutter 1/320 to try and get some half decent images. Below are some of the better ones, I'll put a link to the main gallery too should anybody wish to view

Thanks, hope you like

Awsome Pics!

One question though - do you use manual or auto focus? ive mostly been using manual as i find auto cannot focus fast enough for motorsports?

Thanks for commenting everyone, didn't expect many good comments but looking again the images aren't bad and the gritty rainy weather adds to the feel of them, so I'm quite pleased.

Adam, I use auto focus but change my setting to 'c-af' which is continuous. This allows me to focus on the car and 'track him' until I see the shot I want. As it moves anyway, the lens will keep focusing on it accordingly. Never liked manual focus, the rally cars are all over the place and makes for frustrating shooting in manual

Rad, I use a good site called britishrally.co.uk - has all the up and coming events and I just pop onto the photography forums and check the motorsport sections and check people previous images from those rallies

I've tried reading it a few times, too technical for me when I have too many other things I am trying to get my head around as well if you see what I mean!!!
I'm happy enough letting other people master it and just looking at the results
