DSi is the newest one and has an on board camera, so I think that would be the one to go for if you were a 6yr old looking to impress the young ladies

the dsi are pretty good they have the camera which can do some good stuff on, also the battery lasts longer on them.

but with any ds or ds i you can buy a r4 card (i get mine from www.r4i.co.uk ) if you get a ndsi you need a r4i card or if u get a nds lite then you just need a r4 card. you can buy these cards with a micro memory card for about £14 with the discounts on the website.
you can then download game and transfer these games to the memory card and they work the same. iv had the card for nearly 2 years, iv got a mate who downloads my games as my computer messed up. i have a 2gb memory card and i have 52 games on there.

Nds are great and have some fab games, but 2 buy them seperatly they are so expensive.

R4 card is shit - i had one you could only go as big as 2gb.

I use another type (cant remember the name as have the leant the DS out to my cousin) but I have an 8gb card in there so plenty of room loads and loads of games.

Its about the same price as an R4 card.

If you get one, let me know and i can fill it up with games for you.

my sister has the m3 card yeah its the same, simplier menus. The r4 card you can have up to 16gb now. they have upgraded them now, also on the r4s they have more menu options like changing background colour etc. but its personal choice at the end of the day.

not sure which one i have now as the ds has been leant to someone.

will check when i get it back, but when tested these cards a few years ago this one would only go to 2gb so sold it and bought another which works upto 32gb i think - i went as far as 8gb as it is more stable at this level.

Both my boys and I have the DS, we might upgrade when theres bite the dust but tbh we have had NO trouble at all with theres and they get used ALOT.. the card the boys have holds 70 games so they have 140 games between them for the price of literally 2 games from the shops lol

my boys are 5 and 7

Personally I'd stick to the DS Lite as the camera on the DSi is virtually useless. But on the other hand a young kid may still like to mess around with the camera and the picture edit on it, so maybe the DSi might be the one to go for in that case.

PSP is better for graphics, it simply has more power but you could argue the games on the DS might be more fun.

I think if your kids are very young the DS is the one to go for, if their older than the PSP

As a hand-held gaming system, the PSP is a million times better than the DS. It's far more "grown up" and better built. The DS isn't a serious gaming machine. It's like the handheld equivalent of the Wii really. Aimed more at kids, older people, less serious gamers. The PSP is basically what it says on the tin, a hand-held Playstation, and it's light years ahead of the DS graphically.

They're both great for what they are, they're just at totally different ends of the scale.

After having a look at the games list for the PSP, the Ds wins hands down......

I've just ordered online a DS Lite (as he has camera already) in Black with an extra 4 games....

Hopefully he should be happy =]

I am struggleing to find info on these R4 cards at the mo, can anyone give me a beginners guide to it and where to buy from etc?

Thanks all

Yeah I know what you mean, my oldest shares the Xbox elite with me and I can't get him off Halo 3 and Halo ODST.

I know he will loose interest in the psp as all his friends have Ds's also

this is the card i have which i found to be better than the r4 i had at the time

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Gadge...roductId=31257

However they have a newer version of the R4 card which can use bigger memory - i wouldnt trust it tho as thats what it said on the card i bought and couldnt get more than 2gb to work.

PS i you buy either one - send it to me and I can put all the software and games
