Can anyone explain how you take material off cam yet they become higher lift? I'v always wondered how reprofiling works

 

when you have a hydraulic lifter the lifter takes up the slack on the bottom of the cam, when they reprofile cams they remove a little more off the bottom aswell so the lifter has to stretch some more.

this allows more lift, downside is it makes your lifters work harder

Only works on some if you have enough base to start with a lot don't.
