Gearbox 2wd cossie
when i have took the box out on my sapp i have always undone the 4 bolts that hold the front anti roll bar to the body!does this have to be done?i am currently in the process of taking the box out but cant get one of the nuts undone so just seeing if indeed it does need to be undone to allow the roll bar to drop down or will the box come out with the bar still bolted to the body!

If you are just removing the box, leave the bellhousing there - 4 bolts. If you are trying to get at the clutch, then why not use a semi flimsy piece of wood on the roll bar, drop it on the wood and slide her down.
I've taken my T5 out of my 3 door a ton - but my 3 door shell has no 4x4 tunnel on it - 85 shell. The Saff tunnel seems to have tons of room.
If there is no room to cantilever it out and down then yes, remove the roll bar.

easiest way i found to take gearbox out was as follows:
1) prop out
2) undo exhaust from back of turbo (3 nuts)
3) leave anti roll bar alone!
4) gearbox mount off
5) take gearstick gaitor off and remove 2 13mm nuts to remove gearstick
Once you've done all that the box will have enough room to come over the anti roll bar.

thats the way i have always done it but i always undone the 4 bolts for the anti roll bar, thats good tho if the box still comes out without touching the roll bar!!as above looks tighter on a 3 door!
Cheers for the replys so far
