Default im part of the off the road club

check out my thread in the technical section, im now part of the my RST is off the road club!

Rad was running dry and has caused a metal press stud thingy to pop off one of the pulleys tht sits below the first cam pulley so water is pissing out everwhere. Either the stud can be pressed back in or a newn and the engine will work again or it will have warped it, this happened to anybody else?

I honestly dont know man, its a round piece of metal looks like a big button that sits on the end of a cam pulley?

If this has popped off and the water ran dry and smoke coming from my engine bay does this mean the engine is goosed or could it be ok and this just need putting back in and the engine filling up with water?????

cheers reply asap

Well there is no oil/water mixing together and the head gasket was only replaced last year. Is there no chance that this core plug could be put back on and the engine fire up again?

I was doing a steady 60 on the motorway because i knew it was i didnt even go into boost from the moment i started the car to when that happened.

So does this happen with these plugs popping out? Also is it best to put a new plug in and try it with a new plug or is it ok to just use the orig one and knock it back in, if i knock it back in will it be in tight enough or does it need to be specially pressed into the hole?

I wouldn't re-use the old one, for the amount they cost (very little) I would fit a nice new one.

As for the possible engine damage, I would replace the core plug, run it up and see how you get on. Got nowt to lose by trying that first.
