The good thing about fords is every part has a part number on it not to be confused with the finis number on invoices when you buy thing's from ford.
It will be somthing like 90-eb2717-ef if you write it down and take it to your friendly ford dealer they can trace it for you.
From memory the first part of a part number is the year in wich they started using the part second part tells them what engine it fits and the 3rd part the variant.
the 7 digit number on invoices is just a random number given to the part by ford they call it a finis number it stands for ford international numerical index sytem.
When I worked for ford I used to memories the first part of part numbers it used to be eb was escort gb granada vb transit and so on try doing that with jap parts!!
