Default Plumbers?? Immersion heater stat test !!Where's Tiff?

Hot water went off a couple of weeks ago, new stat fitted. Hot water back.

Hot water gone off again, just changed element - not working!!

checked with meter, element has 19 ohms (which is good for a 3kw so I've found) The old element is also the same.

240v through the stat to the post with the brown wire attached.

no heat though

any ideas?

I dont think so, the neutral is connected directly to the element, the live goes straight to the stat, then from the stat to the other post of the element.

It's the stat, I was measuring wrong there's no voltage from the other side of the stat.

Why would the stat only last 2 weeks??

How old cylinder or element
Do you live in a hard water area
element could be 'caled up' causing it to overheat + trip

Cheers guys,

fitted a new element today, the old one looked old but not too badly scaled.

Hopefully that will be it [touches wood]
