I would try and find the problem yourself, see what is causing the leak and then take it from there. I dont trust garages myself especially on something like a damp footwell.

Just see if you can get the carpet up in the footwell and look for dampness to see if you can follow it back to were its coming from. Slight leaks can be a right pain so they can often be difficult to find. water has a nasty tendancy to bead along bits of metal then start to drip nowhere near where the leak is.

check all round the door as well then. Cos it could be running down the back side of the door and under the seat. Yeah damp is very annoying when you cant find the source.

As you said tho have a good look at the heather matrix as well just incase you have a loose pipe. Sorry i cant be more specific to the problem tho.

My rst had a hole behind the brake servo when i got it. Had a bmw with a leaky door seal. So im just suggesting all the things i have expirienced. lol. Hope you get it sorted tho.

The rubber grommet in my old mk3 mondeo between the car and the bootlid used to leak. Rainwater leaked through it, onto the top of the headlining, run over the side, down the inside of the plastic trim round the window and out over the side of the back seats. I was convinced it was the door seal leaking until I took all the trim out, sat inside it while womeone pressure washed all the seals!

i used to buy sierras and escorts and fiestas and some leaked inside like a seive.

i honestly never found out how they leaked and got shut of a leaker as they pong and mist up bad in winter,i had mk2 escorts that i had to scrape the inside windows cos they were frozen up cos they pissed in water too.

a mate told me this little tip for checking and swears by it..............

whip the carpet and plastics out and sprinkle flour around where the carpets were sopping, any water will leave a trail and bingo you found it or use a hose pipe with the trim out and you will see it comming in if you drown the car with water.
