A friend of mine plays live on the circuit, and currently has career earnings of over $5 million in 5 years.
The reason he's so good is largely down to the fact the money isn't the motiviating factor, and by and large, the money is just to keep score and nothing more.

Has anyone else noticed how almost everyone you speak to says they always come away from fruit machines up on their money... Maybe that's why so many pubs are going out of business - giving out all this free money

If you put a fiver in and lose it, you dont really take any notice of it, especially as you went in expecting to lose it anyway probably.
If you win a tenner though, you remember it.
So when you think backwards your perception is screwed up by the winning event being more memorable than the losing event.
If the people saying they win more often than lose kept an accurate diary than the vast majority of them would find they are wrong, and if they play machines for long enough ALL of them would.

I bet on all sorts of things on a daily basis, although I try and keep emotion out of the equation! At the moment I am spread betting the price of Gold for e.g.! Last week it was US Stocks with results out. Spread betting is technically classed as gambling, unlike buying and selling shares, despite what people think about the trading of shares!
Edited to say - I have never had an addictive personality and have never even used a slot machine, so I don't think I would ever have a problem doing what I'm doing.

I want to go to a proper casino, you know, pull up in the aston, valet parking, decent tux (with hidden silenced walther PPK of course!), supermodel on your arm, few games, take out the criminal kingpin, shag the supermodel, back home in time for tea and medals.
Sadly its only a dream all the casinos you tend to see round your average british citys are pretty low rent places wheres the culture?? wheres the class??

You obviously haven't visited many casino's in the UK. Yeah, some are pretty grim i bet, however most are nice places with dress codes and etiquette rules etc... Not low rent at all, in my opinion anyway.

Its all relative Coldo!! Im sure the super rich who frequent the worlds top casinos would think most UK casinos as low rent!!
A casino such as the Clermont or Aspinalls in london would make any gala/grosvenors place look low rent!!!
Its a totally different world betwen high stakes and low stakes gambling in that sense.

I am not really a casino person as i dont know much about poker or any cards games so i dont see the point of wasting money when i know i am not going to win, i spend most of my money on football bets, got into it for the last 4 months last season, bet near on £200 and got back near on £1000, and i can keep track of it on ladbrokes online account, this year i have spent nearly £100 and only won back £30 so far so i am down this year.
I think if i got to the stage where i was betting £50-60 quid a weekend and not winning i would class that as a problem, but at the mo i spend between £5-10 a weekend which is not daing any harm

I've only been once for a mates stag do. Casino's aren't really my thing, the element of chance biased in the casino's favour puts me off - plus I'd rather spend money and get things in return (ie food, holiday, clothes, car bits) rather than spending money most likely for nothing.
That said though, the one time I did go, I only bet once with my free bet and won £26

i know a thing or two about fruit machines and have them available.
i can alter the payouts and percentages and all sorts, one machine has had £350 grand through it and only paid out 10 per cent, they have all sorts of counters to tell you how much they are paying out and taking in,they have diagnostic ports etc.
if your into electronics have a look at the gubbins of a modern fruity.
if you have a habit buy your own and save save save lol.

the ones my dad regulalry goes to even pay for your parking
the one on shaftsbury avenue for example, or the victoria on the edgware road between marble arch and the a40 flyover which has it's own car park
or the one just down the road from hyde park corner
the dress code pretty much depends on how much you are going to spend, cut off jeans and a t-shirt n some cases are enough to get oyu in
