just goes to show that you should treat the rear of a repair or they rot again
see it soooooo many times where peeps put new cills/arches ect and paint outside and dont think about inside and they will all rot within a few yrs
never seen a ford washer bottle that big before !!!

Yeah its not the RS1700T thats for sure. Could be the RS1900i but the ad says it's an XR3. Unless it's a dodgy bodykit but if so the price is silly.

Its a dog with a nasty kit and spoilers.
Proper, rare one would be an RS1900i. RS being "RattleSnake" not "RallyeSport".
Was a Ford option for a very short time.
Would have a plaque on the dash if genuine, and be injection model anyway.
Could never be confused with an RS1700T.
PS- Gotta laugh at 300-400 quid for scabby S1 alloys. £80, last set i bought.

that car is totally typical of what was driving round essex in the 80's,nowt wrong with it and i saw escort mk3's rust like that in the rear qtrs back when i started driving and them shitters were all over the place, the first car i bought my mrs in 1994 was a 83 xr3i and they were common as muck. some were total rusters and some were very good.
the thing was if they was scouse escorts they tended to be shit boxes and if they were german made in saarlouis they tended to be much better metal and lasted better. they still rotted out though but not as bad as the scouse shit.

It is an XR3 (@ best) with some rough S1 front skirt on it and 2 88-spec rear spoilers bolted on top of each other. Even the front wings are disintegrating. Washer bottle is from a version with headlamp washers though.

My mates dad had one almost exactly like that, same colour even! Was a nail back then,15ish years ago.
Nothing special really, i'm surprised its at that sort of money i think his only made about £500 back then.
LOL @ people confusing the RS1700t!

From what I can gather the 'RS1900i' was a dealer fitted option on a run of 200 xr3's. A calibration between Dagenham Motors, fibre sports and Turbo Technics.
The RS stood for Rattle Snake and they were supposed to be fitted with a 1900cvh engine with a Turbo Technics kit on. However most of them were just kitted mk4 XR3's with a boggo 1.6 in them.
All genuine RS1900i's had a plaque on the dash with the build no.
This is not one ofo them however.

tell you what i do like.....
the colour,my mrs when i first met the bint had one,i think it was matisse blue.people confused it with caspian blue which was more popular, anyway hers was german built and totally rust free everywhere and was 82 x plater with the 5 speed box which transformed the car from the other w reg and x reggers with the 4 spd box.
so long as i'm right and it is the other slightly different shade met blue to caspian its a very rare colour as you didn't see many that shade, even though xr3's were common as dog muck.
