Default Anyone else jobhunting?

If so, how/where are you looking for work?

Also, I've been out of work since Aug '08 (due to family circumstances I quit my job, then moved with family, it all went tits up, then moved back) any advice on the years gap thats now on my CV?

plenty of work out there mate.

i'm not saying this is you; but sadly alot of people are either too proud or to bone idle to work.
If it was me and i was out of work i would literally do anything; wash cars, clean windows, delivery driver, evening takeaway driver etc etc.

As for the year gap on your CV; i would just say you were travelling or something like that if you think it will put potential employers off.

Job hunting is pretty much part of a daily routine for me now, its become very annoying aswell. Unsuccesful replies aren't great but no bloody replies at all boil my blood.
As for gaps in employment..... i dont put them on my cv at all, if i get an interview of have to fill out a application that requires a break down including gaps then i tell them i was unemployed, simple as that really.

I think it has.. I've applied for shiteloads. I perhaps am a little too proud, but have recently realised that a jobs a job. Current lack of transport doesn't help either.

Most of my experience is in Automotive Parts Sales/Distribution and Food manufacturing Quality Auditing.. Unfortunately there's a level of income I can't afford to be under, but on the flipside, anything more than JSA would be an improvement I suppose.

Completely agree, I'd rather have a no than keep wondering. Become quite pessimistic about it now to be honest.

anything is better than JSA mate; plus its does you no good mentally being out of work.

i was under the impression the food industry was still doing extreamly well? have you tried physically going into motor factors and food places and asking to speak to someone in authority and introducing yourself? it has a massive impact/ advantage over sending in letters & CV's

Where abouts in lincoln are you?

Im sorry Paul but that is financial suicide as you can see now.....if you was doing a restoration on a house that would ( usually lol ) appreciate in value at the end to a significant level that would justify keeping you out of employment then i can understand...sorry if it looks like i am having a dig cos i can promise you i am not but to do that for a car is crazy that will prob only gain a couple of grand tops

what jobs can you do then???

That's nuts!

As for jobs, they are there if you want them, not great ones though and you can't be picky.

Sales jobs everywhere at the moment, companies trying to get someone in cheap to get their name out. Be warned though, you'll get 3months then turfed out unless you do the business. Pretty ruthless stuff.

I've spoken to the companies I worked for before in parts, there's nothing..
As for the Food manufacturers, I've been onto the specialist recruitment agencies etc, they tell me there's jobs, ask for CV, I explain the gap in employment, hear nothing..

Again lack of transport is a major issue.
I've been staying between my Dad's near Lincoln, and friends in Sleaford.. Willing to work anywhere in Lincs, hoping I've done a deal on my Focus that gets me straight into another car.

I've looked at starting up on my own in Graphic Design, but having no capital is making it difficult.

I'd look on the job centre website, but you'll never find a job if you do. Many companies now advertise their jobs soley on their own website.

If your proud but need money, look on

Reed.co.uk
Netto
Lidl
All the supermarkets
Argos

Many others, there are jobs out there. Its the case of finding them.

Tried the local supermarkets and have friends that work at most of them..
Registered with Reed.co.uk. Don't know if it'll help anyone else but there's http://www.oodle.co.uk.
They have jobs including ones on the Jobcentre site.

Is it just me? No matter how much I search for a specific town/postcode on the Jobcentre site,
I still get results up to 200 miles away! Stupid site.. and their machines aren't much better.
