I've been banned twice for for speeding on a motorway (bloody M4 both times) - both over 100mph.
First offence was 109mph: 2 month ban and £100 fine.
Second offence was 110mph: 56 day ban and £420 fine.
Weather conditions were good both times, traffic was light both times. The first offence was the English side of the M4 and the second was the Welsh side.

Been told the law is slightly different in Scotland. The short 4 and 6 week bans you get down South are not applicable up here. 3 months is the shortest ban you can get.
Dont know if its true or not.
Just my 2pence worth as you are from Lanarkshire.
PS- Was it a dark blue unmarked E39 BMW, 03 plate on the M74 or M8 by any chance??

all this 28 day ban etc is pish expect at least a 6 month ban and a fine round about the £500 mark.thats what i got for 110 on the m74 at 1.30 am first offence and my mate got nearly the exact same for roughly same speed through roadworks but they lost the tape or he would have got at least a years ban its not england.rules are a bit tougher up here
p.s bet it was that e39 thats dark blue.dirty cunts.dont know about 03 plate but they got a 57 plate one

as said i think its all down to the judge, my mate went to court for doing 90 in a 40 in his evo (it was duel carriage way).
he got 6 points and a £200 fine, he needed his liecence for his job as his a machanic.

They had an old unmarked 03plate 530 BMW about a year ago. Not seen it for a while tho.
Been told they recently got an unmarked Focus ST (blue i think), so watch out.
Fingers crossed mate, they dont come down on you too hard.

I got caught at 101mph a few years back, early morning, good driving conditions and not much traffic. I didnt get a ban but got 6 points (SP50) and a £180 fine. I did take along a letter from my employer stating that i need my licence for my job etc.
A mate of mine just got caught at 104mph, again early morning good driving conditions etc. He got a 1 month ban and i think around a £300 fine.

All possibilities have been given really, but I took a friend of mine to court for 107mph on the M27 on his motorcycle, and we were sure he would leave with a ban. He threw himself at their mercy, apologised for all the time and effort it took to prosecute, and told them that although a ban would cause him problems, he realised he deserved it and only asked that it was as short as possible.
£400 fine and 6 points.
We celebrated with a blast down to Brighton - 120 mph. (we were young and stupid)
Good luck!

A friend of mine was driving on the motorway at 1am, a car pulled along side and sat there as if they wanted to race, so off he goes, he hits 125 and the car pulls behind him and then... flashy lights!!
Before the court date, he "sold his car" (to his son) and said he needed his licence for work, very sorry etc..... the court issued him a £300 fine and a 3 month ban!! which he appealed and got his licence back straight away as he sold the car. then he went out and bought a 300zx

Deffo looking at a ban mate, i got caught doing 111mph also (average) and was banned for 3 months and £350 fine. 8 oclock on a sunday morning, sunny day with next to no traffic on the roads.
Was warned to expect a lengthy ban and hefty fine and also a possible re-sit of my test !!
All depends on the judge you get on the day in court i reckon, gave them a letter from my boss saying i would be of no use to him without a license (recovery driver/mot tester) etc etc but not sure if it made any difference.
Like mentioned above im sure they look at statements like that and think "well if you value and need your license so much, why risk losing it by driving at such high speeds" !!

the thing is these c**ts in the courts sometimes try and make an example of you!
especially if there was any hint of erratic driving involved!
i would be expecting a ban and a half decent fine but as said before its your luck on the day!
i got 500 quid fine and 8points plus a re-sit of my theory and test for no insurance which was a 1st offence!
(had been cancelled due to missing a payment and i didnt realise! they had tried to say my insurance had been cancelled for 2months but 3weeks previous to that i got stopped for a spot check by traffics and a full check done and nothing came up!?!)
they are making a lot of folk do re-sits,especially in scotland!
the judges are right tossers!
