Default Transponder Keys

A mate of mine has a 54 plate transit connect. One of his keys has worn out and won't open the doors.

It does however start the van. In total we have 2 keys that will do this.

I've got him a new key cut from the local dealer today who reckoned that if you had 2 keys then you could add further keys, but wanted an hour's labour to do it.

Does anyone know how to sort this out?

Cheers!

Neil.

An hours labour, the cheeky gits. That's about £70 at Ford rates isn't it? Talk about money for nothing.

Aye, I reckon you just need to put them in the ignition in order and 'do something'. The question is, what?

Could he not take the transponder out of the old key and put it in the new key.Just get a small screw driver and remove the blue bit of the key and get the transponder chip out and place in the other key.

Neil it is possible with 2 keys i guess as it is with my focus. I lost one of my 2 keys and then had ridiculous quote to cut a key and then match it to the immobiliser. In the end my mates bro who works at ford did it for me. I paid him 2 cut 2 keys then he took the laptop they use out on lunchtime and sorted mine.

However if you have 2 working keys i think it'll be a system of turns in the ignition. I'll go search the rs bb forum.

That is the way to do it, that way you are still running with the original PATS Chips.

I don't want to swap the transponder - he'll be knackered if he loses a key.

Chop, will try that when I see him next, PATS II looks like the winner

Cheers!

Neil.
