Has anyone ever done courier work, self employed?
Hi Guys,
I signed up with a courier company today to do courier work for them on a self employed basis, as my current work as an engineer is near on dead and has been for sometime, so to earn some pennies and get out the house i thought it'd be a bit of fun.
Has anyone here done this sort of work, past or present, whats the earning potential?
I guess it comes down to how much work the company give me, but they said they will pay 50p per loaded mile i do for them.
Just want to hear experiences from others in this field, as courier work is new to me.

depends how much work they put your way. id imagine its much like signing onto an employment agency, they promice you the world with lots of work and its often few and far between.
with a van that returns near 50 mpg about 10p of every 50p will go towards fuel.

i work for a well known courier company and we have owner drivers in our place who earn £1.50 or summit per drop , dont know the exact figure but us non owner drivers do 90 a day which aint exacty a killer , so earnin potential is pretty good for them , even tho they do have over heads like van maintanence ,fuel etc
