they use a litre of oil per 1000 mile
very thrirsty on fuel
if its second hand make sure its on the log book as a 1.3 as the road tax will be lower(it can also be registered as something else (i forget what) which makes the tax considerably higher)

I took one for a test drive when they were launched (230 version) and I must admit it was very nice indeed, revved well and is a proper 4 seater BUT the fuel economy is shocking - they claim 23mpg but one of the lads has one and he reckons he struggles to get 19mpg and that's taking it fairly easy (and as said they use a lot of oil)

My boss has one and lent me it for 2 weeks to get home in when my van was in for repair, mint cars but only ever got 19/20mpg.230BHP goes very well and nice to drive but becomes shit to start if it doesnt get any long runs for a while or is left stood for more than a few days

Lad i work with has one. 230 model. he get about 200 miles to a tank. Nice cars, but not a lot of room in drivers side foot well due to large tunnel. A litre of oil every 1000 miles, parts are not cheap though. But he loves it and gives it abuse every day and it takes it.

Good cars ive had one a while now very thirsty on fuel 20mpg is the usual, you need to keep an eye on the oil but its not necessarily a litre every 1000 miles. If you used to a reasonably spec'd cos then it wont feel that quick but they handle fantastically in the dry, in the wet they are interesting though a change of tyres from the standard re30's soon changes that. The engine should feel silky smooth at any revs if it does not then I would avoid though its usually just the coil packs that have went. All round good cars and it is a proper 4 seater you dont need to be a midget to get in the back. Only get the 230 ive heard the 190 feels a bit lifeless.

my son has one and he moans about the fuel economy. as said above he's had problems with the plugs (and coils) also they can be a pig to start when warm and stopping for a few minutes, ie refuelling.
he's only had it 6 months and will be selling it in the new year

I quite like the rx8's. Got a lift to work in one when i took my car for something or other. They specialise in rx7 and rx8's, engine rebuilds, race and rally prep, and any rotary engines (theyve got a rotary powered mk2 escort) and he was saying theyre getting a lot more rx8's in with knackered engines since the warrenties are running out and that theyre quite delicate.
Think id still rather go for the rx7, but prefer R33's or S14's

The only reason I didn't buy one is due to the flooding when cold. If you start it and turn it off before it warms up (Around 10 minutes) the engine will flood and you will have alot of trouble starting it again... This will also fook up the CAT as the unburnt fuel weld itself to it apparently.
I do many small journeys and couldn't risk flooding it.
