didn`t see this...

i work on adsl faults for openreach so may be able to give a few helpfull answers..

1,, log into you router,, if it`s a business hub should be 192.168.1.254

see what speed you router is showing as this is the only way to see you actual sync speed,,

2. see if you can get the loop attenuation and snr figures from the router, and will give an idea of your line quaility..

also try a test on www.speedtester.bt.com

will also give some figures to help see what may be causing the problem..

just for info,, this is the details from my router,,, 8meg max rate bt line

DSL Connection

Link Information

Uptime:6 days, 7:57:52
Modulation:G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:448 / 7,616
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]:166.87 / 1.11
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:11.5 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:18.0 / 30.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:23.0 / 10.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote):TMMB / ALCB
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):12 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):0 / 24,511,969
CRC Errors (Up/Down):0 / 5,356
HEC Errors (Up/Down):0 / 4,875
Line Profile:Interleaved

so my router is showing 7616 kbps, or 7.6 meg..

the lower the loop attenuation the shorter the line generally..

also the higher the snr this would point to line issues and this is raised to combat line quality issues, but will effect sync max rate speeds,,

also the errors are not good....

my speedtest. net result...

a few things to try before you do,,,

are you running your router off your nte5, ie the main box or an extension box..

check all phone points are filtered, i go to many jobs where phone are missing filters, and sky phone points fitted before filters etc..

any point without will mean the adsl signal is being lost into this equiptment, thus weakening the signal..

disconnect the bell wire, (no 3 on ext wiring) as all adsl filters have a capacitor fitted within to do the job, and will improve speed...
