yeah i know, but its 70k for something that a 10k homebuilt mk2 escort will compete with at an amateur weekend rally. its not like Carlos sainz is jumping back into it next year is it. Its had its day is all i'm saying. unless your an uber rich oil baron with an acre garage to park it in next to your ridiculously expensive collection it seems like a waste of money for me.

If I had the money to buy it, I'd have it set up for tarmac, and use it for tarmac rallying and ripping the queens highways, to pop to the shops in!

Those pictures and that description dont even do that car justice....I doubt they will get 70K for it but it's definately worth that....

The car in the sig is a represenation of a 1995/1996 boreham spec Group A escort cossie, David Robinson's car (on pistonheads) is a boreham spec WRC Escort.
Neither of which would be anywhere near like a 10K mk2 in a clubman rally....the mk 2 what could compete with a car like this (even a WRC car driven by a muppet) is probably 20 - 40K and even then, that's on smooth tarmac on a very good day....
A well sorted escort WRC is capable of winning national rallies even after all this time, the fact lots of people have moved onto either modern group 'n' cars or other WRC models doesn't really de-value an Escort WRC car....Marcus Dodd for example has just secured the National Gravel Title in an out of date Hyundai WRC, a car which is well over the hill, but with continued development still beats Steve Perez in his Focus....the Hyundai and Escort WRC do share some similarities in the way in which they were conceived.....
