Default Tiger kit cars... anyone know about them?

Been offered one in part exchange against my Audi TT thats for sale at the moment, they look ok just wondering if theres something im missing?

They're basically a budget Caterham/Westfield but how do they really compare to say a real Westfield, Caterham, MK Indy, Locost etc? I know the build quality will largely be down to whoever built it but are the kits any good or are they shite?

Any of the kit car know-it-alls care to help

It's Ł6250, bit pricey for what it is for me personally, as it'd take a bit of money to get it to be more like how i would want it.

Just got the link to the owners Pistonheads advert (see below)

They're based in Thorney Toll nr. Peterborough. They're a family business and very helpfull. They have an open day once a year and some of the cars that turn out can be very well prepared. They done the twin engined one in a joint venture with Z cars to crack the 0-60 production car record. http://www.tigerracing.com/

As said above as with all kits they are only as good as the person who first built them, the quality on Tigers though IMO is somewhere between a home built caterhams and westy's and the budget stuff. I've been in a 2.0l Pinto(cat e1) and a 2.0 Zetec(r6) on weber alpha at about 170bhp. That one looks like one of the better ones. Would look a million times better with some nicer wheels, a heatshield for the exhaust and some willans harnesses.

Tiger are a good brand in the kit car scene. well made cars and good quality. You are best off joining up to locostbuilders.co.uk you will get an un-bias view of the car as the forum caters for all 7 style reps. where as if you went to a tiger forum there just going to say there great lol.

There are different specs of tiger, find out its model number, all the current ones are ok, but some of their older models were a bit ropey.

Chip all i know is its a Tiger Racing Cat E1

CraigJ - i've recently joined there actually, thanks.

Thanks for all the replies, but i got back to the bloke today and informed him i wasnt interested, main reason being it would cost to much (including buying it) to get it to the way i'd like it to look... new wheels, seats, harnesses, lose the spare wheel from the back, paint it all the same colour etc.

Ideally i can get my TT sold soon and then i'll be in a better position to haggle on any car i see fit, which at the moment im thinking an MK Indy or bargain Westfield.

Anyone had any experiences with MK Indy's?

Indys are great cars. Get on locostbuilder and find where your local meet is. Some one will take you for a spin in one if you ask nice.

What do you plan on using the kit for? track or road or both? Strikers are very good on the track and look great, the stand out from normal 7 reps.

Red16, the Cat E1 was a really pikey kit, it uses sierra rear suspension etc, its a million miles away from a westy, or even a decent tiger kit, its not what I would be wanting in a kit car for that money, walk away would have been my advice, but obviously you already have!

Think i'll have a look for my local meet, the Indy is top of my list at the moment, it seems a good balance between looks and cost, Westfield would be my preferred option but they're a bit pricey for my liking.

It'll be mainly road car with occasional track use hopefully, i'd like to shove a cossie YB in eventually, just want something to tinker with that handles nicely and isn't a shonky bit of kit.

Oh! Thanks for the advcie chipper when i was looking at the blokes advert on pistonheads, it seemed to be overpriced by around 1500 quid compared to other similarly spec'd examples.
