Fiesta Zetec S, still look nice, fun handling, nippy and reliable but cheap to run.

Should get a pretty tidy phase 2 51 plate for that.

I too would be looking at an Audi A3, This one is about £400 over budget, but otherwise seems a nice looking car http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1247266.htm

It's an A3 1.8 turbo.

went to look at the puma i was intrested and bloody typical, when i pulled up they were taking off the trade plates from a test drive and some one has lesft a deposit

shame looked half decent with only a little tear in drivers seat

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

next choice is a Audi A3 1.8T but has high miles but drives fine and i know the lad has had it for sale on his drive for a while for 2k so might try knock a good bit off and chance it with the miles

I would go for a Puma 1.7 handle very well as standard, very good on the bends try and go for a 99 plate onwards have newer interior, newer clocks
or
a mk4 Golf Gti turbo reliable lots of room, good on fuel. Parts are expensive imo.

Owned both these cars.
