Default Fault Reader

Anyone know of a cheap fault reader that will work on all cars?

Was looking at the RAC one in argos but only works on petrol cars from 2001, and diesel's from 2004.

thats all any of them will work on as they are EOBD/OBDII.

to read older you will need specific readers.
