I've got an 8 year old Dog also called Bruno. They are excellent pets, very loyal although need to know their place in the household. They're happiest as long as they know your boss.

Very headstrong animals and will take a mile if givin an inch. IMHO the more you put in the more you get out. On a seperate note, seeing as American Pits were mentioned, can you correctly identify the Pit Bull Terrier from the other look a likes ??

http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

I know what one it is, would love one shame they're subject to BSL and wouldn't be easy to find a Tru APBT in the UK

these are bulldogs which are allowed.the american pitbull are banned from this country mate.dont quote me tho if you have one it can be registered.and its never allowed out the house without mussle.leash etc etc.ive read that somewhere so might not be 100% true.

Your right and your wrong.

The breed its self IS legal, the type however isn't. The DDA in the UK specifys 'of pitbull type' . The word TYPE is the important bit here, if your dog meets set criteria (based on the AKC (i think) 1988 APBT breed standard,) Technically (and this includes staffies, amstaffs ambulldogs etc......) your dog could be detained pending a court case and possibly destroyed. Harsh i know, thats why i'm so against BSL.

When the act was intoroduced in 1991, you could add your name to the 'exempted dogs list (and again when it was revised in 1997).The only way to have your dog added to the list of exempted dogs nowadays, is to have been taken through the court system, proved your dog isn't a threat and then the courts add your name.

As mentioned above then the dog is tatooed, neutered/speyed chipped and registered to you (cannot be givin away or sold) and must be walked on a lead with a muzzle.

In the link above the APBT is dog 16.

Roscco, if the dog is registered as safe and it does hurt/attack someone who is to blame?

Genuine question not arsey one anyway

Also how do them dogs relate to a built up staffy, normal pit bull, doberman etc? Are the said dogs as vicious?

I know of someone with one (pit) - never seen a softer dog. Very friendly, great around kids and other dogs.

Good question, to be honest i've no idea, but would imagine if you've proved your dog isn't a liability and it becomes one, your goosed lol. Anyways, if it's on a lead and wearing a muzzle how's it goin to be doing the damage anyway?

On the other question its totally irrelevant. APBT are reknown for their friendly nature, although as mentioned above, APBT are totally banned. Get caught with one and away it goes. With the BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) part, if the powers that be say your dog meets the criteria set, it's deemed of Pitbull type and it's up to you to persuade the courts otherwise.

Wouldn't effect the likes of a doberman as it's obviously not going to conform. As for the viciousness, irrelevant again. Thats why our DDA is nuts.

Want a REALLY scary but legal dog, look for "Bully Kutta". Known to turn on their owners if they're hungry.

Due to the nature of the work these dogs are bred to perform, they are known to be human aggressive and difficult to handle. When not fed properly they have been known to prey on their owners. This breed is not the type of dog to own in a family with children. Bully Kutta's are not recommended for first time dog owners, or timid dog owners. With their size and great strength, it is best that the owner is experienced in the type of training that these dogs need.

Laughin', Yeah, if these bad boys start comin' into the UK people will start getting eaten, not just bitten. Circa Ł3k imports you one.
Think of all the shady back alley breeders there must be in Pakistan. No breeding for specific traits like gameness or physique, just plain random breeding to try an make monsters. Om non nom nom..............

TOTAL bad ass machines

Know a few people with Pits, would love to have one but couldn't be watching over my shoulder whole time I'm walking it or shitting it when another dog gets anywhere near, they'd be better if they got socialised but that's hard nowadays with them...but none have a generally bad temperament.

Pitbullmastiffs are nearly a registered breed in US, awesome looking dogs
