Default Duratec V6 RWD- what Gearbox?

Hello there..

Guessing some of you have an idea of what gearbox i can use on a RWD car with Duratec 2.5 V6 engine?
Without too much rebuild of the gearbox or the engine?

Im just starting to thinker around on a project...

So all hints and tips are welcome.

I take it the engine will be in line and not transverse.

you could maybe look at a box out of a jaguar, i think they use the same engine block on some of their models.

Utterly different engines. The MX5 being a longitudinal 4 Pot and the V6 is effectively transverse (and it's the MX-6 that it shares the V6 with)

I think there are two types the Ford 2.5 and the mazda 2.5 v6. The british touring cars used the mazda unit for some reason.

I am sure the MTX75 fits it so I assume with some mods a MT75 RWD box will fit.

but thats just a guess

not quite right at all, the engine in the XJ220 is loosely based on a metro 6R4 engine

and secondly

the XJ220 is mid engined, so runs a transaxle

You also have the option of the getrag 221 which was put in the RWD Jag S-type/Lincoln 5spd that had a duratec.

Lincoln parts are cheap over here. Shipping might balance it out sadly.
