Default ebay fees

recently i sold almost 2ks worth of cossie bits on ebay.i got a lot of payments through paypal.all the listings were less than £2 each.obviously paypal took its cut but i got a bill from ebay for £206.i thought the paypal deduction included ebays money but obvioulsly not.i dont know how much paypal has had but i must have lost at least £300!i feel shafted.

The list fee, final value fee when added to Paypal fee's do leave you feeling 'raped' on some items I must admit. Someone needs to set up another auction site be it UK or otherwise but cheaper. Thing is Ebay would just try bid for it and take them over to remove the competition like Google with Youtube etc.

Its amazing, all the sites on the web and there's only really one decent auction site to sell your stuff.

I stuck a car on there the other week and put in the ad' it was advetised eleswhere (alweays do this then you get the messages coming in fast and furious asking how much to buy it now!) Anyway...... checked my billing the other day and Ebay had charged me £32!! The car sold within 18 hours of it being on there and my starting price was £350......cheeky or what!!

Some idiot bought a Ford Galaxy I was selling using the buy it now then rang me all apologetic saying he thought it was a diesel and he didn't want it, tosser, so I re-listed it and assumed I would get all the fees back from the first auction, but no, the final value fee was repaid but not the original listing fee, so it has cost ME £8 for some idiot to buy the car then change his mind, fookin disgrace and way to biased on the buyer now, if people dont pay for an auction they win they get an 'unpaid item strike' well woopy fuckin do.

have to say some of the parts i had that i was getting stupid offers for or were not selling that i had advertised on here all sold very very quickly on ebay.most of the buyers had very little feedback and all paid instantly so that was great.just a pity it cost so much for the pleasure.

I have just had a right bargn off Ebay, so I can't complain, but I will not sell on there again as I sold an exhaust to a guy in spain, he has received it, and I have proof of delivery but paypal STILL took £170 off me inspite of documented signed evidence that it was delivered

I sold something on there, & by the time the listings fee, paypal fee & postage was added up, I lost out by about 20p. Not a lot, but still

When I sell, I always add a bit on for fees into the postage. Still try to keep reasonable as I can.

Agreed, has anyone sold something through a "normal" auction? 30% isn't unusual and I bet most will sell again. The money I've had through selling shite RS parts is amazing, standard RS turbo actuator = £35 You cant beat a big audience.

Exactly,
I had a nice touch a while back when someone on here said that some muppets were paying £30 on ebay for cossie gear knobs which only cost a fiver at fords

Too true it was so of i went the very next day down to fords and bought every one they had

"What the hell do you want with 28 gear knobs" was what the guy serving me said

I listed them at a "Buy Now" at £28 each and sold the lot

Tis great when you fall on something like that

Cheers passionford for the heads up

People on eBay dont realise that some stuff is cheaper new from a dealer than there.

Like Seat Leon Cupra R front splitters. Had one on my Focus Collection. £20 from a Seat dealer new (a few years ago, about £22 now I think). On eBay, £26.99 + £9.49 p&p. So £36.48 on eBay against £22 from Seat
